a prayer

ever so often my actions result
either in success
or in failure
if success goes to my head
and failure goes to my heart
it swells my head
and shrinks my heart
if success goes to my heart
and failure goes to my head

this is my prayer:
let all my success go to my heart
so it expands to share the joy with others
let all my failures go to my head
so it contracts to hold the lessons for life

keys and locks

life provides problems
problems are locks
education provides solutions
solutions are keys

university hands me a bunch of keys
i struggle, yet don’t find the locks to work them on
life hands me a bunch of locks
i struggle, yet manage to find just the keys for those
